Two Black entrepreneurs have been selected for Google’s Startups Accelerator: Women Founders program.

Lucia Udochukwu Onuoha, chief operating officer of BorderlessHR, and Cynthia Omokhekpen Asije, co-founder of Craftmerce, were among the 11 entrepreneurs selected. The business owners will get access to deep dives and workshops on product design, customer acquisition, and leadership development for founders, as well as technical mentoring from Google specialists.

“…The program has supported 36 women-led startups across North America, who have collectively raised US$73.46 million since graduating from their cohort. Now in its fourth year, the equity-free, 10-week intensive virtual accelerator program provides women-led startups the tools they need to prepare for the next phase of their growth journey,” a statement reads.

BorderlessHR provides several products on a single platform for HR teams. The company offers solutions for hiring, directories and organizational charts, stock options, onboarding, time tracking, and payments. Run by co-founders Onuoha and Paschal Amaechi, the company was recognized by the Founder Institute as one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies in 2022. Meanwhile, Craftmerce, a global marketplace for African brands, will also complete the 10-week virtual boot camp.

The accelerator also focuses on nontechnical programming that addresses the unique barriers faced by women in the startup ecosystem.

Google launched the initiative in Canada and the United States in 2020. Moreover, Google expanded the women-focused accelerator to India last year.
