Gonez Media Inc. (GMI) has announced it has acquired Now Magazine. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Now Magazine, once a weekly publication, publishes content online. GMI says it plans to relaunch the brand under the Now banner in a digital-only format on Jan. 17.

"This is a huge move for us. It elevates Gonez Media to become a truly dominant player in Canada's digital media landscape," Brandon Gonez, chief executive officer of GMI, said in a statement. "We've worked hard to bring ground-breaking change in how news is delivered to audiences in our city – it's something Torontonians needed, and we delivered. NOW is going to be powered by this same passion and expertise. It's coming back bigger and bolder than ever, and we're excited further to push the envelope of digital media in Canada."

Committed to focusing on arts, music and entertainment, GMI plans to tap into Now’s roots as a go-to cultural mag. Now will also create content on Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube, a statement reads.

GMI is the producer of the Brandon Gonez Show, which airs on YouTube.
