Bringing something new and valuable into the world is incredibly exciting because you can identify a problem that needs solving or a need that hasn’t been met, and your business addresses these issues. Knowing that your work is making a difference has been a powerful motivator. A deep sense of pride comes from building something from scratch. Seeing an idea transform into a viable business is an accomplishment that brings immense satisfaction.

Imagine that after all this work, you show up at your place of business, and there is a lock on the door. You have been evicted, and you have no idea why. You begin to call around, searching for answers, and the answer you are met with perplexes you. All you have built has been disrupted due to someone else’s negligence.

Justin Alliman is a global basketball development coordinator who runs an international basketball organization called Dream Chaserzzz Basketball, Inc. He is also the mentor coach for the Raptors 905, Toronto’s NBA G-league team. His work keeps him busy. He has opened seven basketball academies worldwide and has utilized basketball to give back to his community.

His love for basketball began the day he started playing it. He views basketball as a tool that helps him connect with people, especially young people. He said his true passion is helping others, and he can do so by going into elementary and high schools and sharing his experience, knowledge, and wisdom to help young people achieve their greatness.

One activity that affords children such opportunities to develop positive character traits and soak up quality values is sports. Studies have shown that children who play sports perform better at school and are often afforded the chance to develop peer status and peer acceptance. Participating in sports can also be a helpful way of reducing stress and increasing feelings of physical and mental well-being.

According to a study titled “The relationship between physical activity and self-image and problem behaviour among adolescents,” people who play sports experience “positive shifts of mood state and perceived health, an increased sense of self-sufficiency, greater personal adjustment, enhanced body image, and impaired self-concept.”

In an interview with Black Dollar Magazine, Alliman shared that, upon reaching high school, most kids have never completed elite basketball training and have mostly only played either house league or rep basketball. It leaves them at a huge disadvantage, which is why the Dream Chaserzzz team believes kids should participate in basketball training just as much as they play games if not more.

In a sport like basketball, which is growing worldwide, there must be more time to break bad habits that can be prevented with great teaching. The right trainers can stress the importance of being an all-around player, and they instill in kids’ minds at a young age that there is no single skill to have as a basketball player. All skills are equally important. When children learn positive life lessons through sports, there is no doubt they will become honest, reliable adults, and this is one of the reasons why Alliman opened up the very popular Dream Chaserzzz Academy.

Since its opening, Dream Chaserzzz Basketball Inc. has become a place where you can come in and expect to be trained and treated like a pro athlete, no matter what level you’re currently at. With some of the best trainers the city has ever produced, they have partnered, trained, and worked with Chris Boucher (Toronto Raptors), Serge Ibaka (former Toronto Raptor), Tamara Tatham (Team Canada), Terrence Jones (Houston Rockets), Kayla Alexander (San Antonio Stars/Indiana Fever — WNBA), and an extended list of special athletes.

Alliman said it was going so well until he discovered that all he had built had stopped. “It was an extremely frustrating experience for me,” Alliman said. “I thought I had a partnership with someone, only to find out that the person had been lying to me the whole time.”

The building that Alliman was renting had evicted Dream Chaserzzz Basketball Inc., not because of anything he had done, but because the person he was sharing the space with had yet to pay their portion of the rent. For months, this was happening, and the person had said nothing to Alliman. He had to find out the hard way when he arrived at the facility and could not get in.

“It was a hard hit for me,” Alliman explains. “It is one thing if I knew I was the one not paying to keep my facility open, but that was not the case. Someone who I thought was a partner was deceiving me, and this had cost me my business and maybe even my reputation.”

Alliman had to think quickly, hustle hard, and do the unimaginable. Thankfully, his spirit was not easily crushed, and in only a few months, he accomplished his goal.

On Sunday, Oct. 1st, 2023, the year-round basketball training academy announced the grand re-opening of its Dream Chaserzzz training facility after an extensive renovation and expansion. This marked a significant milestone in their journey to provide the community with a state-of-the-art basketball facility and an exceptional wellness experience. The re-opening celebration was scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 71 Innovation Dr., Woodbridge, Unit No. 7, and they invited the community and specially selected media members to join in the festivities.

At the new Dream Chaserzzz training cacility, they have reimagined basketball training and added purpose. Their revamped facility boasts cutting-edge equipment, spacious workout areas, and innovative basketball programs designed to cater to sports enthusiasts at all levels. The grand re-opening introduced several exciting features and amenities, as well as prize giveaways, complimentary classes, free haircuts (first come, first served), and more surprises throughout the day.

Overcoming challenges is an inherent part of entrepreneurship, as our story has illustrated. While it can be stressful, it’s also gratifying. Every obstacle surmounted is a victory and a chance for personal and professional growth. With Dream Chaserzzz’s training facility, Alliman is building something that will outlast him and create a successful business that he can leave for future generations.

“Getting better isn’t just about training hard; it’s about training with purpose,” explained Alliman. “It is more than just a training facility; it’s a community dedicated to empowering athletes to be their best regardless of the circumstances. With a commitment to providing top-notch training, expert guidance, and a supportive atmosphere, we strive to inspire our athletes to achieve their training goals and make their basketball dreams a reality.”
