Nine Black businesses will receive a $25,000 NAACP Powershift Award for Black Entrepreneurs Day Nov. 1.

“In its fourth year, Black Entrepreneurs Day brings together Black icons from business, entertainment, sports, and advocacy to Harlem’s Apollo Theater for a live television event featuring meaningful conversations that will propel Black entrepreneurs to the next level,” an email statement reads.

Over the past three years, the NAACP has awarded over $750,000 in Powershift grants to support small Black businesses. Created with entrepreneur and shark Daymond John, founder and CEO of FUBU and “Shark Tank,” in 2020.

It has partnered with TransUnion to provide Black borrowers with resources, advocated for comprehensive student debt relief, and supported Black businesses in the economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The night will include speakers, including Cedric the Entertainer, Whoopi Goldberg, Shaquille O'Neal, Anthony Anderson, Cari Champion, Sloane Stephens, and many more. It will also have a performance from rapper Rick Ross.
