Meet Utlwanang Mmeti, a 17-year-old South African student who founded and serves as the CEO of his own sneaker company, Dapper Shooz.

Utlwanang, who hails from the small town of Rustenburg, formally established his business this year but has been actively promoting it on social media and by speaking with prospective customers since 2021.

He had been considering launching the firm since he was 16. “I started in a village in the North West province in my mother’s garage; you gotta start somewhere. (So), where are you starting from?” Mmeti said.
