Husband and wife team Keaira LaShae and Kevin “KP” Price have emerged as Black trailblazers in the world of supplements by establishing Just Move Supplements, according to Essence.

Recognizing the need to change their community’s health habits, the couple transformed their passion for fitness and nutrition into a holistic online dance fitness brand that has positively impacted thousands of lives.

Keaira LaShae’s life-changing moment occurred at the age of 16, witnessing friends and family grapple with illnesses like diabetes and high blood pressure. To serve as an example, she decided to be the change she wished to see. Cleaning up her diet and embracing a regular fitness routine transformed Keaira's life.

Meanwhile, her husband drew from his experience as a professional basketball player and found his true calling for health and wellness after the loss of his father to a heart attack. Fuelled to protect his heart and ensure a healthy future for his family, he joined forces with Keaira to create a platform dedicated to promoting well-being.

As the couple tried to expand their influence into the supplement industry, they faced challenges, particularly finding products aligned with their values. Crafting their supplements had been a long-standing dream, but financial constraints initially held them back. However, the onset of the pandemic became a turning point.

“When the pandemic happened, I remember the night we talked about this, we were like, ‘you know what? Let’s try this. Let’s see if we can get all the things in order so that we can try to execute this, because it’s going to mean a lot for our community to have something like this,’” she said.

After extensive research, Just Move Supplements was born, becoming one of the few Black-owned manufacturers of vegan protein in the country. The couple also celebrates Black food culture with their product, offering distinct flavours inspired by family recipes, including Mama’s Sweet Potato Pie and Grandma’s Lemon Pound Cake.

“We are not out here to grab every dollar. We’re not out here to change up our formulas and cheapen them up to make more money. We’re here not just for our people, but for people, period,” said Keaira.

To grow the business, the husband-wife team is looking for investors to take their product to the next level.

“We want to put out a quality product, even if it costs us a little bit more money. We have to sacrifice a little bit of our profit margins to put this out. We want to do what’s best for our community, one step at a time.”
