It's almost time for back-to-school, and in an ideal world, each child would come back with a backpack packed with everything they need for the academic year.

While the world is not perfect, there are those, like Jessica Bowden, willing to intervene and lend a hand.

Entrepreneur and business owner Bowden has started an initiative to give 1,000 kids bags for the coming school year.

"We go into the communities," Bowden said in an interview with iHeartRadio. "We learn what grades require the backpacks from people running backpack campaigns. We donate some and give our Black Lives Matter bags to specific school grades, which is amazing."

Bowden owns and operates UbU4U, a clothing business in Bedford's Sunnyside Mall. Each piece of apparel is marketed as "fashion with a purpose" and includes significant comments on societal issues.
