Strands of Faith founder Ameka Coleman has announced a partnership with Premier Inc. (NASDAQ: PINC), a healthcare improvement company, to supply 4,400 hospitals across the U.S. with textured hair products.

The Black-owned clean hair care brand is among the first to be awarded a contract under Premier’s “Ethnic, Scalp, and Skincare” category. The deal will allow Strands of Faith to expand its distribution network and provide added visibility in the health care industry.

"Studies have consistently revealed the presence of racial inequities and unconscious bias within the United States healthcare system. These biases also extend to hair care. I am super excited that this partnership will allow for a more equitable healthcare landscape,” Coleman said in a statement.

Strands of Faith, founded in 2018 by Coleman, offers safe, non-toxic solutions to help patients with coarser hair textures keep their tresses washed and moisturized during their hospital stay. The conditioners, shampoos, and stylers in the hair care collection are free of sulphates, silicones, parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, and paraffins.

Coleman said she started the company to eliminate disparities in knowledge and training to care for textured hair, and added the partnership with Premier is a “full circle moment.”

In her previous career, she worked as a clinical research professional in several hospitals.

“To be on the other end of supplying products (for my) own company is surreal and a blessing,” Coleman said in a statement.
